Vulcan Porting Their Valhalla Classics To The PC

Way back in 1994, the first game we ever made was called, Valhalla & The Lord Of Infinity. It was the first ever speech adventure, for the Amiga computer. It was such a resounding success, that in 1995 we created Valhalla Before The War and in 1996 Valhalla & The Fortress of Eve. These three Valhalla games formed a cult following among it's many Amiga users. They were not technically ground breaking games by any means, but were the first Amiga games, to use extensive digital speech.

Their popularity was attributed to the fact that they made you think. They were extremely simple to operate but very complicated in design. This in turn demanded a slow approach, requiring logical and lateral thinking in order to solve the many devious puzzles throughout these elaborate speech adventures. Seven years later, and we are now in the process of resurrecting these old Valhalla Classics for the PC. The PC versions bare witness to graphic and sound enhancements, but we have placed a great emphasis on making the conversions as close to the originals as possible. The end result, a preservation of gaming history!

The most exciting advancement for the PC versions is that they are digitally distributed and also played within our free windows application, the Vulcan Portal. Each episode is self contained, yet integrated into the Portal's own functionality which allows the Portal's 3D Guides to get involved in some of the game-play, adding their own dynamic synthetic speech to Valhalla's pre-recorded digital speech.

The Valhalla Classics, will offer 12 brain melting episodes of adventuring, covering 3 distinct time periods within Valhalla's history. This episodic approach creates a sense of achievement as you progress and is also perfect for the Portal's digital distribution technology, making download times easier on the user.

Live Long & Prosper!
